Majestic Sikkim: A 6-Day Journey Through the Himalayas

Arrive at the Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station, the nearest major transportation hubs for Sikkim. Transfer to Gangtok (approximately 4–5 hours drive from Bagdogra or NJP). Check-in at your hotel in Gangtok and relax after your journey. In the evening, take a stroll along the famous M.G. Road, Gangtok's vibrant shopping and dining street.

Start your day with a visit to Tsomgo Lake (Changu Lake), located around 38 km from Gangtok (approximately 1.5 hours drive). This glacial lake sits at an altitude of 12,400 feet. You can take a yak ride around the lake (if available) and enjoy the breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains around the lake.

Next, visit Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, a revered shrine built in memory of an Indian Army soldier. It is on the way to Tsomgo Lake and offers a spiritual experience.

If you are visiting between May and November, plan an excursion to Nathula Pass, one of the highest motorable roads, which offers spectacular views of the Indo-China border. Note: Nathula Pass requires special permits, and its accessibility depends on weather conditions.

In the evening, explore Gangtok’s M.G. Road for shopping and local snacks.

After breakfast, depart for Lachen, a beautiful village in North Sikkim, which is about 6-7 hours' drive from Gangtok (approximately 120 km). En route, enjoy scenic views of valleys, rivers, and the majestic Himalayan range. Stop at Tashi Viewpoint for panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga and other peaks of the Himalayan range.

Arrive in Lachen by evening. Check-in to your hotel or guesthouse. Rest and acclimatize yourself for the high altitude, as Lachen sits at 8,500 feet.

Start early in the morning and head to Gurudongmar Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world at 17,800 feet. The lake is sacred to both Buddhists and Sikhs, and the journey to it is an unforgettable experience through remote terrains. Enjoy the serene beauty of the lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks.

Return to Lachen for a quick meal and then proceed towards Lachung (approximately 2.5–3 hours drive). Reach Lachung by the evening, check-in to your accommodation, and relax after your journey.

After breakfast, drive to Yumthang Valley, also known as the “Valley of Flowers.” It is about 25 km from Lachung and takes 1–1.5 hours to reach. The valley is famous for its stunning natural beauty, alpine flowers, and views of snow-capped mountains. You can take a short trek around the valley and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

If you wish, you can continue to Zero Point, located at 15,300 feet, where you can enjoy panoramic views of snow-covered peaks. Note: Zero Point requires a separate permit, and its accessibility depends on weather conditions.

Return to Lachung for lunch. Spend the evening relaxing at your accommodation or exploring the nearby areas.

After breakfast, begin your drive back to Gangtok (6–7 hours drive). Depending on your departure time, you can have a quick stopover at any scenic spot along the way. Upon arrival in Gangtok, transfer to the Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station for your onward journey.
